A meeting of the 17th extraordinary regional session of the Council of Deputies of the 27th convocation was held in the Minsk Regional Executive Committee, where Aleksei Kushnarenko was approved as Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee, BELTA reports.

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko appointed Aleksei Kushnarenko Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee on 31 March. During the session of the Minsk Regional Council of Deputies, the new head was introduced to the regional activists by Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Turchin, who until recently headed the central region.

“I am glad about this appointment. There were different candidates, but the candidacy of Aleksei Ivanovich, in my opinion, is the most optimal. And the President’s decision is absolutely correct. Today we understand what the Minsk Region means for the country. This is 19% of GDP, almost 30% of agriculture, 20% of industry and 25% of investments. And the work of our country as a whole depends on the work of the Minsk region, as the head of state has repeatedly said,” noted Alexander Turchin, expressing confidence that Alexey Kushnarenko will support the dynamics that exist in the region, will give it acceleration, looking at many things with a new look.

“I am sure that with the team that is in the Minsk region, this will be easier to do,” emphasized Alexander Turchin.

The deputy corps of the Minsk region unanimously supported Alexey Kushnarenko in his new position.

Addressing those present, the Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee Alexey Kushnarenko noted that first of all he would like to express gratitude to the President of the Republic of Belarus for the high trust shown, as well as to the deputy corps of the region for their support.

“It is a great honor for me to head the Minsk Regional Executive Committee. I understand all the responsibility, and I have no illusions. I understand that I have to work hard, and in order to work effectively, I need to rely on someone. And I see this support in you, the asset of the region, and in you – in all its residents. The results of the Minsk region are at a high level, the region is actively developing. I have a good example – this is Alexander Genrikhovich, who worked with you in an effective team. Therefore, I assure you that I will make every effort to continue the glorious traditions that exist in the Minsk region. I am committed to joint fruitful work, ”said Alexey Kushnarenko.

The staff of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee, as well as the deputies, expressed gratitude for the work of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Turchin, who headed the Minsk region for more than five years.

“Everything in life moves forward, everything changes. And this is a new stage of development. I remember this hall, the excitement when I took office as chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee. Five years flew by quickly. I am sure that we will continue to move forward, and the government will not forget about the Minsk region and will help in every possible way. We will succeed,” Alexander Turchin summed up.
