The Pukhovichi District Prosecutor’s Office supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against a 35-year-old resident of Pukhovichi for illegal sowing and growing of plants containing psychotropic substances for the purpose of otherwise obtaining narcotics.

The Pukhovichi District Prosecutor’s Office supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against a 35-year-old resident of Pukhovichi District, who is charged with illegal sowing and growing of plants containing psychotropic substances for the purpose of otherwise obtaining narcotics.

The criminal case was heard in a mobile court session in the building of the Pukhovichi District Department of Internal Affairs, which was attended by persons who had previously been brought to criminal responsibility for crimes against public health.

It was established that citizen X., having a single intent aimed at the illegal sowing and cultivation of plants containing psychotropic substances, being in the outbuilding to his house, using his growboxes, containers and fertilizers, fans, and other devices and equipment, by planting seeds in specially adapted containers with soil, illegally sowed narcotic-containing plants of the genus Hemp (Cannabis), containing in their composition the especially dangerous psychotropic substance tetrahydrocannabinol, which can be used to manufacture dangerous narcotic drugs, and carried out the illegal cultivation
of 17 of the above-mentioned plants for the purpose of otherwise obtaining narcotic drugs, until the moment of discovery and seizure during the inspection of the outbuilding by police officers.

By his deliberate actions, the accused committed the illegal sowing and cultivation of plants containing psychotropic substances for the purpose of otherwise obtaining narcotic drugs, i.e. a crime provided for in Part 1 of Article 329 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.

During the trial, the accused admitted his guilt in the crime committed in full.

Taking into account the position of the public prosecutor and the evidence presented, the Pukhovichi District Court found a resident of the
Pukhovichi District guilty of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 329 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. As a punishment, the court sentenced him to 1 year and 6 months of restriction of freedom without sending him to an open-type correctional facility.

The sentence has entered into legal force.
